11. The following questions all pertain to the reaction
H+ (aq) + HSO4-1 (aq) <===> H2SO4 (aq)
(where aq means aqueous or dissolved in water) and all require knowledge of Le Chatelier's Principle. Answer each AND give a BRIEF description of your reasoning. (In other words, what happens and why?) Be sure to answer the correct question!!
a) What direction will the equilibrium shift if the pressure is decreased and why?
b) What will happen to the concentration of bisulfate (HSO4-1) if the concentration of H+ is decreased and why?
c) If a large amount of H2SO4 was added to the mixture what would happen to the concentration of bisulfate (HSO4- ) and why?
d) If Ba+2 was added to the mixture, what would happen to the concentration of hydrogen ions and why? (Barium ions and bisulfate ions form a solid when they mix)
e) What direction would the reaction shift if water were added to the mixture and why?
